Google toolbar for Firefox

I accidentally used Internet explorer today and saw the good old Google toolbar, with the blogger icon. And I thought Firefox should have it as well so I can blog whatever site I like straightaway. And I googled it and found this.

Petals Around the Rose

A friend of mine email me this link for the game: "Petals Around the Rose"
It took me a good 50 minutes to click around! couldn't figure it out, then I went to read about the story about how Bill Gates tackle the problem and suddenly a solution poped up in my mind and got it solved straight away!
So, keep looking at the same thing trying to figure out by writing down all the experimental data and analysing them aren't always the best way to reach the solution...
:D

Very interesting!! Try it out!

Whatever you resist will persist

Whatever you resist will persist

If something comes into life, there's a lesson to learn.
Dodge it, resist it, delay it, it'll come back later.
Why not embrace it? Get it over and done with, and take the next lesson of life that's hopefully more interesting than this one.

What do you have, to sell yourself when you get your phd?

Siok, a Malaysia auntie I met at landmark forum invited me over for dinner.
Nanthida, her 15 years old daughter just did her Landmark forum over the weekends and was all excited about it. She's such a lovely girl.
There, I was introduced to Xiaofeng, a mining process engineer who aimed very well in his research to get to where he is now. He did his phd with industrial grant and understand how the real industrial world works during his research. That positioned himself very well when he finished his research, and now he is earning good money in the mines.

A good question he asked me:

What do you have, to sell yourself when you get your phd?

Something to ponder...

Perth is cold again! Bloody 9'C outside now!!
Forecast for next few days are around 12-25'C... This year, it feels like summer goes straight into winter... <:| Posted by Hello

Penguin Island Trip

Today, Nico, Alessandro and myself met at 8:30am to go to Penguin Island together. After Danno's party last night, we all didn't have enough sleep, but we still had a nice time there.
Penguin Island is located less than 1km from Rockingham shore, and Rockingham is ~40km from Perth.
There's ferry service from 9am-4pm, cost about $15 inc. entry to the penguin discovery center on the island. Penguin feeding 10:30am, 12:30 and 2:30pm.
The fairy penguins in the center are so cute!!! But outside of the center, it's hard to spot wild penguin during the day, but there are a myriad of seagull everywhereon the island.
We went for swim but the water is too cold to stay in thre for long. Posted by Hello

Happy Nepalis New Year

Last night I was invited by Pramila and Joshi to their place for a little drink and food. And it turned out that it was their Nepalis New Year day! Joshi cooked some very nice beans dishes and egg dishes, I forgot their names already. The spices taste was fantastic! They said it's tumeric and other spices...

Crazy Japanese kids

Amer told me about this. An African American teaches English in Japan. And all the crazy stories about Japanese kids and school teachers...

Here's the link: I am a Japanese School Teacher, By: Azrael
Read "My Kids Are Perverted", "Japanese Kids Say the Darndest Things", "Japanese Teachers Say the Darndest Things" and you'll get a feel.... a bit worrying...

Blood type : O negative

How many of your friends are O negative?
There are 3 in our CSSE PhD gang!! It's crazily high!! Isn't it supposed to be a very rare blood type?

Watch a musical: Patient

I went to watch a musical with Nico and Cornie at the Playhouse in the city. Nico told me that Courtenay, one of our fellow PhD mate is acting in it, so we went.
The lead singer, who plays Patient (it's the girl's name) has great vocal talent! She's so good!! Courtenay didn't came out till second half of the Act 1, he plays the perfect young man whom everyone adores. Well done Court! Well sung!
This is actually the first time I saw Courtenay singing properly. Good voice. I haven't really have much chance to hear this kind of voice after high school vocal training. It's nice!

After we came back from the play, I was back to the lab. Accidentally did another 3 hours of coding and came home at 2:30am.
Time to bed.

Gmail announced on April Fool that their account size will be infinite+1. I thought it's a april fool thing but today the account shows: You are currently using 99 MB (5%) of your 2059 MB.
And it's still increasing at 3.5MB/day. See the counter on the gmail front page.
